Description
The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for patients entering Mercy facilities, handling scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, financial clearance, and pre-visit collections. The role requires accurate patient data entry, knowledge of insurance carriers and Medicare guidelines, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work under stress. A high school diploma is required, while 1–3 years of clerical and customer service experience, medical terminology, and insurance-plan experience are preferred. The position involves prolonged standing and walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and requires medical, dental, and vision coverage for eligible team members.
