Description
The Patient Accountant screens self-pay patients at the hospital bedside for eligibility in governmental and non-governmental programs, identifies potential payors, routes accounts in the Patient Accounting environment, completes financial clearance and collections, follows up on government applications, conducts patient interviews and field visits, and communicates screening outcomes to hospital staff. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years of experience in social services, hospital admitting, or a related area, familiarity with federal, state, and county programs, computer proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in hospital and office settings.
