Description
The Patient Care Sitter provides continuous observation and companionship for nursing-home residents who require close monitoring for safety, including those at risk of falls, elopement, self-harm, or exhibiting behavioral health needs. The role remains with the resident at all times unless relieved, maintains visual contact, reports changes or hazards to nursing staff, documents observations, follows infection prevention and safety protocols, and attends required training. It is a non-clinical, non-medical-intervention role requiring a high school diploma or GED, English communication skills, sustained focus, and calmness in stressful situations; prior healthcare support experience and familiarity with behavioral health or dementia care are preferred. The position involves mostly sitting, occasional standing and walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
