Description

Rocky Mountain Laboratories is hiring a Molecular Laboratory Technician in Austin, Texas, to perform high-complexity molecular testing on human clinical specimens in a CLIA-regulated laboratory. The role includes manual nucleic acid extraction, PCR and NGS workflows, real-time PCR assay setup and troubleshooting, data analysis, result reporting, quality control, instrument maintenance, and regulatory compliance. Candidates need recent hands-on molecular laboratory experience, a qualifying laboratory science degree or equivalent training, and at least one year of recent experience. The schedule is Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., with pay of $22–$27 per hour and benefits for full-time W2 team members.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in a laboratory science or medical technology field; alternatively, an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology; or 60 semester hours with at least 24 in biology and chemistry plus documented molecular biology training or an accredited clinical laboratory program.
Required Previous Experiences: At least 1 year of recent hands-on experience performing molecular testing on human clinical diagnostic specimens in a CLIA-regulated laboratory.
At least 6 months of independent manual nucleic acid extraction experience within the past 12 months.
Experience setting up and running real-time PCR assays.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience performing infectious disease molecular testing.
Experience with KingFisher Flex or similar automated extraction platforms.
Experience with QuantStudio 5/6/12 or similar real-time PCR systems.
At least 2 years of recent experience in a clinical molecular laboratory.
Experience in moderate- to high-volume testing environments.
Familiarity with CLIA/CAP regulations and quality systems.
ASCP or similar certification.
Experience troubleshooting and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Prior participation in lab inspections, audits, or validations.
