Description

The PER DIEM Peer Support Specialist is part of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Response Teams (MCORT) in Ocean, Monmouth, Middlesex and Union counties. The specialist will respond to calls dispatched through the 988 crisis center, providing immediate support, crisis intervention, and promoting mental health and wellness. They will utilize personal lived experience and recovery journey to build rapport, inspire hope, and help individuals de-escalate crises and access resources.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Previous Experiences: 2+ years of work experience in mental health field
2 years of continuous recovery from SMI or SUD diagnosis
Preferred Qualifications: One of the following certifications is required: CRSP-Certified Recovery Support Practitioner, CPRS-Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, NCRPSS-National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist, Certified Wellness Coach or Community MH Associate Certificate.
Proficient in MS Office products.
A prominent level of patience and emotional resilience.
The ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging situations.
Great critical thinking skills and the ability to adapt and act accordingly to situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with individuals in crisis.
Ability to work with individuals with mental illness in a caring and professional manner.
Ability to make and maintain contacts and positive relationships with individuals who receive or have received mental health and/or substance abuse services.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
