Description
The Paraprofessional Peer Support Specialist provides harm-reduction education, outreach, naloxone training, wellness and recovery support, and follow-up to overdose survivors in Pasquotank County. The role works with EMS, jail, prison, hospital, recovery court, and community partners; connects survivors within 24 to 72 hours of an overdose and follows up through 90 days; facilitates peer-support groups; maintains client records; and coordinates with the Opioid Response Coordinator and EMS Chief. The position requires peer-support certification, communication and problem-solving skills, computer proficiency, and knowledge of public-health, safety, and HIPAA principles.
