Description
The Peer Specialist provides education, support, and interventions to clients recovering from mental health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, discharge placement, advocacy, outreach, documentation, peer support, and field-based services. The role requires Peer Specialist Certification, a high school diploma or GED, relevant life experience, a valid California driver’s license, current auto insurance, cultural competency, and, for a substance use disorder program, a negative tuberculosis test, CPR, and first aid certification.
