The State of Ohio is hiring a permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 or Highway Technician 1 to serve the public and improve road safety in Ohio. The role includes highway maintenance activities such as flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, mowing, and snow and ice operations, along with training to obtain CDL licensure if needed. Qualifications differ by classification: Highway Maintenance Worker 1 requires arithmetic and English education plus a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement without an airbrake restriction, while Highway Technician 1 requires additional arithmetic, English, three months of training or experience operating basic equipment, and the same CDL endorsement. The position is overtime eligible, subject to probation, background checks, drug testing, and federal motor carrier safety regulations, and does not offer employment visa sponsorship.
