The State of Ohio is hiring a permanent Highway Maintenance Worker 1 (HMW1) or Highway Technician 1 (HT1), with the selected candidate placed in the classification meeting their minimum qualifications. The role serves the public by making Ohio roads safer, performs highway maintenance such as flagging, pothole patching, guardrail repair, litter pickup, and mowing, and conducts snow and ice operations. HMW1 applicants must obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a tanker endorsement without an airbrake restriction, while HT1 applicants must have the license, three months of training or three months of experience operating basic equipment, and formal arithmetic education.
