Description
The Phlebotomist II independently performs venipunctures and skin punctures on neonates through adults, collects blood specimens, processes and accessioning specimens, and supports laboratory testing, billing, and patient information. The role requires knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines, specimen suitability, problem-solving, computer systems, reagent and supply protocols, reporting procedures, and competency exams. It is typically performed in a clinical environment and may include coverage for group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or in-home phlebotomy.
