Google is hiring a Hardware Engineer to design and build optical transceivers and photonic networking systems for data center applications, including TPU and GPU superpods. The role covers system architecture, emerging optical technology research, and work from concept through high-volume manufacturing. Candidates need a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, six years of high-speed datacom experience, and five years of digital coherent optical transmission experience; a PhD, automation, signal processing, optoelectronic simulation, and manufacturing knowledge are preferred.
