Description
The Pipefitter will configure, install, fit, maintain, and troubleshoot piping and plumbing systems, including pressure and vacuum gauges, filters, steam traps, and strainer valves. The role involves reading schematics and blueprints, welding, cutting, bending, threading, soldering, installing insulation, testing for leaks, and complying with safety regulations. Applicants should have at least three years of on-the-job pipefitting experience, preferably in a shipyard, while a successful apprenticeship is preferred. The work includes heavy lifting, confined-space production, heights, climbing, and exposure to humid, noisy, and extreme-heat conditions.
