Description
The City of San Jose’s Planning Division is hiring full-time Planner I, Planner II, and Planner III candidates for the City Planning Section. The roles cover planning application review and processing, policy development, community and stakeholder engagement, public hearing presentations, environmental review, long-range and specific planning, zoning and sign-code amendments, data analysis, GIS, grant management, and interdepartmental collaboration. Planner I requires no prior experience, Planner II requires two years of entry-level professional planning experience, and Planner III requires four years of professional planning experience, including two years at the Planner II level or equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning or a closely related field is required, with a master’s degree or 60 semester hours of graduate coursework substituting for the Planner II experience equivalent. The positions require attendance at some evening and occasional weekend meetings.
