METR is hiring a Security Engineer to secure its evaluation platform, including application security, agent sandboxing, cloud infrastructure, networking, access control, development environments, and workflows. The role involves writing and reviewing code, fixing vulnerabilities, designing secure systems, implementing IAM and least-privilege access, and monitoring agent behavior. It requires 7+ years of security engineering, software development, or adjacent experience, along with production software engineering, cloud and container security, vulnerability remediation, and security fundamentals. The position is hybrid in Berkeley, California, with 3–5 days per week in the office, and may offer cap-exempt H-1B visa sponsorship.
