PLOS is hiring a fully remote Associate Editor to oversee the editorial process for manuscripts submitted to PLOS journals. The role evaluates submissions, makes editorial decisions based on reviewers’ comments, handles complex editorial and publication-ethics queries, supports editorial policy and journal promotion, and builds relationships with the academic community. Candidates must have a PhD and experience in research, publishing, or a relevant industry; the position may require occasional national and international travel and flexibility across time zones. The base salary is £35,000–£38,950 in the United Kingdom or $67,000–$73,625 in the United States, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance for US employees.
