Description

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Field Application Engineer to support customer engagements in Korea. The role is a customer-facing technical individual contributor responsible for bridging customer requirements with MIPS’ processor IP, software tools, and custom silicon solutions; supporting pre-sales and early development; enabling design wins; troubleshooting hardware and software issues; collaborating with sales and business development; and supporting ecosystem partners. The position requires a BSEE or MSEE, 7+ years of relevant SoC/ASIC design and architecture experience, RISC and DSP architecture knowledge, customer-facing pre-sales experience, and willingness to travel up to 30% within Japan.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
Required Previous Experiences: 7+ years of relevant SoC/ASIC design and architecture experience
Experience working with customers in a pre-sale process
Preferred Qualifications: MSEE preferred
Experience across multiple stages of SoC design, including architecture, RTL/Verilog coding, synthesis, and physical design
Hands-on experience in embedded system design, debugging, or firmware/software development
Understanding of DSP algorithms for wireless communication, LiDAR/RADAR, image processing, and advanced sensors
Understanding of AI/ML-based system design and use-case requirements
Understanding of SoC design requirements for automotive functional safety
Understanding of security concepts and standards-based building blocks for secure SoC design
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to break down complex problems
Ability to communicate technical information in meetings, presentations, seminars, product demonstrations, customer training, and to guide the sales team
