Virginia Tech’s ASTRO Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate in Blacksburg, Virginia, to conduct research in uncertainty quantification and data-driven modeling. The role involves developing and implementing uncertainty quantification, Bayesian inference, multi-fidelity, and reduced-order modeling methods; integrating them with finite-element and machine-learning models; contributing to model validation and predictive modeling; preparing publications and presentations; and mentoring students. The position requires a recent Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or computational field, experience in uncertainty quantification or computational modeling, scientific programming experience, and a record of scholarly research. It is a restricted appointment with 40 hours per week, no overtime eligibility, and a review date of October 1, 2026.
