Michigan State University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering is hiring a fixed-term postdoctoral research associate in experimental studies of gas-cooled plasma-facing components for fusion technology. The role involves reassembling and upgrading a high-pressure, high-temperature helium flow loop and using it to study helium-cooled tungsten divertor concepts at prototypical temperatures and pressures. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related field, have an outstanding academic record, and be able to supervise external contractors and work with Ph.D. students.
