Description
Michigan State University is hiring a full-time, 12-month Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Microbiology, Genetics, and Immunology in East Lansing. The scholar will work in the laboratories of Dr. Sean Crosson and Dr. Andrew Olive on host-pathogen interactions following pulmonary exposure to Brucella abortus, with opportunities to pursue related projects involving other pulmonary pathogens. The role uses bacterial and mammalian genetic approaches, including barcoded transposon sequencing and genetically tractable lung-resident macrophage models, and requires independent experimental design, documentation, and communication. Applicants need a PhD in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, or a related field, a strong genetics background, and quantitative and communication skills; BSL3, flow cytometry, genome-wide screens, infection-response, and next-generation sequencing experience are preferred but not required.
