Description
Zscaler is hiring a Principal Backend Engineer for its Analytics team in Israel. The role reports to the Manager, Software Engineering and focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services in a microservices architecture using Scala and Java/Spring Boot. Responsibilities include optimizing production services, managing data across Snowflake, Trino, and Apache Iceberg, improving semantic layers and query performance, collaborating with product, UX, and frontend teams, and mentoring junior engineers. The position requires at least eight years of backend development experience, microservices and cloud infrastructure experience, and strong problem-solving and communication skills; a computer science degree and expertise in query optimization, data analytics, and semantic layers are preferred. The role is hybrid.
