Description

DriveWealth is hiring a Principal Data Engineer, Analytics to build and scale data products for financial analytics, trading, clearing, settlement, risk, and reporting. The role owns the full lifecycle of data products, develops complex dbt models and Python automation, optimizes query performance, implements CI/CD and data-quality testing, and leads technical initiatives while mentoring engineers. It is based in Chicago with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in the office, requires U.S. work authorization without visa sponsorship, and pays $220,000–$240,000 USD.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of professional experience in analytics engineering or data engineering, including building and scaling analytical data ecosystems
Expert proficiency in SQL and experience optimizing complex queries and data models at scale
Advanced proficiency in Python for data manipulation and interaction with APIs and AWS services
Experience using Databricks for analytics workloads and building and optimizing data models with Databricks SQL and dbt
Experience with dbt materializations, macros, and package management
Experience architecting data models for FinTech and capital markets, including trade lifecycles, clearing and settlement, risk models, and financial reporting
Experience building reusable and modular data solutions rather than one-off scripts
Experience treating data as software through unit testing, CI/CD, documentation, and SLA monitoring
Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex errors in distributed Spark or Databricks systems
Preferred Qualifications: Experience implementing Airflow or similar orchestrators
Experience with Sigma Computing from a data modeling perspective
Experience building Data Apps within Databricks
Experience using AI/LLM tools to enable faster and smarter analytics workflows
