Description

Curaleaf is hiring a Principal Data & Analytics Engineer to serve as a senior technical leader for its modern data and analytics ecosystem. The role defines architecture, engineering standards, reusable platform capabilities, and technical roadmaps across data ingestion, Snowflake, dbt, semantic delivery, analytics, data science, governance, and business consumption. It is a hands-on individual-contributor and leadership position that partners with data and business teams, leads incident reviews and platform improvements, and mentors engineers without direct people management. The position is on-site in Stamford, Connecticut or Wakefield, Massachusetts, and offers a Massachusetts hiring range of $145,000 to $160,000 USD.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Required Previous Experiences: 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Platforms, or a closely related discipline
Experience as a senior technical lead, staff engineer, principal engineer, architect, or equivalent individual contributor with cross-team influence
Hands-on Snowflake expertise covering architecture, performance, security, workload management, access patterns, and cost optimization
Advanced SQL proficiency and strong Python experience for data engineering, automation, platform tooling, or analytical workflows
Significant dbt or comparable SQL-first transformation framework experience
Experience designing modern analytical data models and reusable data products
Experience with data ingestion, ELT, orchestration, data contracts, schema evolution, data quality, lineage, and production support
Experience with Git, automated testing, code review, CI/CD, environment management, and software-engineering practices for data systems
Experience defining architecture and technical standards while remaining hands-on with prototyping, complex problem solving, and implementation guidance
Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical alignment without formal people-management authority
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with dltHub or another modern ingestion framework
Experience with Omni, Looker, or another governed semantic and business-intelligence platform
