Description

BAE Systems is hiring a Principal Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Power) for its Maritime Sector in Barrow-in-Furness or Filton on a hybrid working pattern. The role leads development of design documents, supplier documentation review, technical requirements definition, and assessment of design compliance for electrical systems within submarine design and build activities. Candidates are expected to have an engineering degree with CEng status or eligibility, and demonstrable lifecycle engineering experience with AC/DC power systems and expertise in areas such as power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: BEng (Hons) or MEng in a relevant field, with Chartered Engineer status or eligibility for CEng
Required Previous Experiences: Demonstrable experience across the engineering lifecycle with AC and DC electrical power systems
Experience in at least one of: power system modelling, generators, switchgear, protection, or power electronics
In-depth understanding of power system architecture, power generation and distribution, protection and coordination, or power earth fault monitoring
Preferred Qualifications: Willingness or eligibility to relocate for the role
Internal candidate with at least 12 months in current role
Experience supporting build, defect resolution, and change management
Experience with estimating, bids, proposals, and project planning
Ability to meet security vetting requirements
