Google is hiring a Principal Engineer for GCE Platform Security to serve as the technical authority and executive architect for the end-to-end security posture of Google Compute Engine. The role owns security strategy and architecture across distributed control planes and low-level node data planes, including defenses against agentic and LLM-assisted threats, hardware and microarchitectural vulnerabilities, virtualization escapes, host deprivileging, zero-trust architectures, and secure runtime substrates for AI workloads. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering or equivalent practical experience, 15 years of professional software development experience, and experience architecting and securing low-level systems software across virtualization and operating systems. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, 20 years of software engineering experience, and expertise in hardware-software security co-design. The role is based in Seattle, Kirkland, Sunnyvale, or New York, with a stated US salary of $307,000–$427,000 plus a 30% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
