Google is hiring a Principal Engineer to architect resilient distributed platforms and bridge physical and logical security. The role leads technical strategies for securely deploying workloads in untrusted environments, including defining isolation and verification frameworks, defending against sophisticated AI-based threats, securing multi-cloud and AI infrastructure, and establishing guardrails for autonomous AI agents. It requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, 15 years of software engineering leadership experience, and experience in data center, networking, hardware, or operating system security. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, cross-functional leadership, hardware vulnerability expertise, confidential compute experience, and AI infrastructure security knowledge. Compensation is $307,000–$427,000 USD plus a 30% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
