BAE Systems is hiring a Principal Engineer - Mechanical Engineering to lead the design of mechanical systems, subsystems, and equipment for next-generation Royal Navy submarines within the Dreadnought Platform Mechanical Engineering team in Barrow-in-Furness. The role involves functional design, calculations and analysis, design documentation, verification and validation evidence, safety justifications, supplier and stakeholder collaboration, support for build/test/commissioning activities, and mentoring junior engineers. The position is hybrid, offers a salary circa £55,000 depending on skills and experience, and requires degree-level Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience plus proven mechanical design and lifecycle experience.
