ABC Fitness is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to lead software architecture and modernization of legacy fitness applications while contributing directly to backend implementation, production fixes, refactoring, testing, and reliability work. The role focuses on defining service boundaries, domain models, APIs, migration strategies, data and integration patterns, and cross-team execution, with hands-on experience in Java/Springboot, Golang, or Node/TypeScript. Additional Information

Required Previous Experiences: Substantial experience designing, building, operating, and evolving production backend systems, services, APIs, and distributed applications
Hands-on implementation experience moving from architecture into code, configuration, instrumentation, and diagnosis
Experience defining service boundaries, domain ownership, migration strategies, integration patterns, and architecture decisions for complex existing environments
Experience diagnosing and fixing production reliability and performance issues
Experience improving large codebases through domain modeling, modular design, refactoring, and abstractions
Experience with relational databases, SQL, messaging, event consumers, caching, and data dependencies
Experience with automated testing, code review, static analysis, secure coding, and production validation
Experience leading technical decisions and cross-team execution
Preferred Qualifications: Experience modernizing large complex software systems and runtime or framework upgrades

Experience with enterprise databases, Kafka, data migration, and reporting dependencies
Experience with profiling, instrumentation, concurrency analysis, database performance, and tuning
