Level AI is hiring a Principal AI Research Engineer to set the technical direction for large language models, speech understanding, retrieval systems, and agentic systems. The role leads research from prototype through production, designs scalable training and inference pipelines, establishes evaluation frameworks, partners with product and engineering teams, mentors engineers, and represents the company externally. Candidates should have a relevant degree or equivalent research experience, typically 7+ years of production ML/AI experience, deep expertise in deep learning and at least one related AI domain, strong Python and PyTorch skills, and a record of deploying scaled models.
