Description
Motional is hiring a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to lead the long-term vision and technical direction of its multimodal data-mining platform for autonomous vehicles. The role owns the full lifecycle of ML data pipelines, aligns and distills massive multimodal models, designs billion-parameter model architectures, optimizes inference and retrieval systems, and coordinates cross-functional rollouts. It also serves as a hands-on player-coach for up to three engineers. Candidates need a BS in a relevant field or equivalent experience, at least 12 years of machine learning engineering experience, deep expertise in large-scale model training and production systems, and strong cross-team leadership and communication skills. The estimated base salary is $240,000–$330,000 USD, with medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits.
