Description

Kapta Space is hiring a Principal RF/Microwave Engineer in Seattle to design, develop, integrate, qualify, and transition RF and microwave hardware for electronically-steered spaceborne radar systems. The role covers transmit and receive signal chains, RF distribution, filtering, switching, amplification, frequency conversion, calibration, PCB and package design, testing, environmental qualification, and production readiness, with substantial technical authority across a multidisciplinary payload development team.

Additional Information

Minimum Education: Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, RF/Microwave Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline
Required Previous Experiences: 10+ years of relevant industry experience designing and developing RF/microwave electronics with principal-level ownership of complex hardware
Extensive hands-on experience developing RF/microwave hardware, subsystems, and RF front ends for high-performance communications, sensing, radar, or related applications
Proven ability to take RF hardware through requirements, design, prototype build, verification, environmental qualification, manufacturing transition, and system integration
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with X to Ka-band microwave spaceborne LEO radar payloads and advanced ISR missions
Experience with electronically-steered or phased-array radar beamforming and array calibration
Experience designing phase-coherent multi-chip hardware and managing amplitude/phase matching
Experience interfacing with high-speed data converters and low-jitter clock/reference architectures
Familiarity with space-qualified components, radiation-tolerant design, COTS-to-space conversion, and reliability analysis
Experience with acceptance and qualification testing of space-rated hardware and related standards
Prior work in aerospace teams, defense contracting, or scaling RF hardware from development to production
