Description
Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its AI Experiences, Copilot Engineering team to design and develop distributed, secure, and performant platform services and products for Copilot experiences across Windows, Mac, and mobile. The role involves building systems that reason, plan, and execute tasks, collaborating with platform, infrastructure, application, and research teams, and delivering high-quality, tested, secure, and maintainable code. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field plus 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience; preferred qualifications include a master's degree, 12+ years of experience, or 15+ years of experience, along with extensive hands-on experience using modern AI coding agents. The position offers a base pay range of USD 142,800–274,800 per year across the United States, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and requires employees living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub to work from the office at least four days per week.
