Alarm.com is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its emPower team, which builds software for IoT, smart-home automation, energy management, HVAC, water, and connected-device control. The role provides hands-on technical leadership across cloud services, APIs, data flows, device integrations, automation logic, and customer-facing applications; it includes architecture ownership, system modernization, cross-team collaboration, mentoring, and technical thought leadership. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 15+ years of professional software development experience, strong object-oriented programming and database skills, and experience leading technical direction and mentoring engineers. The role is based in the office four days per week and offers a base salary of $200,000–$250,000 USD, with medical, HSA, and 401(k) benefits.
