Astronomer is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership, architectural vision, and mentorship for its core engineering group. The role owns the end-to-end design and implementation of a cloud-agnostic, self-contained platform that provisions and orchestrates Apache Airflow instances on-premises, including control-plane and data-plane services, extensible APIs, observability, and architectures for isolated or air-gapped environments. The position requires extensive enterprise infrastructure experience, control-plane and API productization, cloud-native observability, Kubernetes, hybrid-cloud systems design, and advanced software development skills, with an estimated total compensation of $277,000 to $390,000 plus equity and benefits.
