Elastic is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Elasticsearch Search team to lead vector similarity search initiatives, design and implement new vector search features, improve existing functionality, resolve bugs, and contribute to the broader search experience. The role requires expert knowledge of vector similarity, large-scale search platforms, core Java, data structures, concurrency, and collaborative distributed engineering. Compensation is a base salary of $159,800–$252,800 USD, with higher ranges in select locations, plus stock participation and other benefits.
