Description
Itron is hiring a Principal Engineer for its Emergency Preparedness & Response team to own the technical vision and architecture of highly available, resilient, and scalable systems. The role is backend-heavy and full-stack, requiring hands-on design, development, review, debugging, and guidance of engineering teams while partnering with product, operations, and business stakeholders. The engineer will focus on availability, scalability, latency, reliability, cost, maintainability, operational readiness, metrics-driven improvement, and AI-powered development workflows. The position requires 6–8 years of software development experience, including 2–3 years leading a team, and offers a hybrid model with one to three days per week in the office.
