Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Security of MSRC team to help transform vulnerability management into a unified, secure, resilient platform. The role involves developing and optimizing software, improving inference performance for OpenAI and other large language models, debugging and refactoring systems, supporting release and incident response activities, and collaborating with internal and external partners. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field plus at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; equivalent experience may qualify. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, extensive experience, and expertise in high-performance applications, GPU architecture, and LLM performance optimization. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800 to USD 274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
