Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Turing team to build the backend platform and core features powering enterprise Microsoft Copilot. The role leads architecture, implementation, deployment, reliability, incident response, developer tools, and technical strategy while collaborating with scientists, engineers, and stakeholders. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field plus 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; equivalent experience is accepted. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, AI and distributed-systems experience, and strong software-engineering judgment. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800–274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
