Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Privileged Access Control team to provide technical leadership across privileged-access governance and provisioning products for human and non-human identities. The role focuses on designing and developing large-scale distributed software services, building secure and reliable components, using AI-assisted development, and enabling authorized, time-bound access for Microsoft engineers and automated workloads. It is a high-impact individual contributor role requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, or Python, or equivalent experience. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800–274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
