Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Security Purview Team to design, build, and operate high-throughput, multi-tenant Tier 0 services. The role combines hands-on engineering with broad technical leadership, including distributed-systems architecture, secure and scalable software development, architecture and code reviews, live-site investigations, root-cause analysis, engineering practices, and mentorship. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience; equivalent experience is accepted. The role requires Microsoft Cloud background screening and offers a U.S. base pay range of USD 142,800 to USD 274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
