Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Dataverse team to define and drive the technical strategy and architecture for globally distributed services that manage and optimize Dataverse’s database fleet and compute resources. The role owns critical technical areas from architecture through deployment and operational health, leads complex cross-organizational initiatives, and establishes standards for quality, security, reliability, observability, and engineering excellence. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field plus at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; equivalent experience is accepted. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800–274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
