Microsoft is hiring a Software Engineering IC5 to join the C+AI FIT training team and develop scalable, reliable infrastructure for training LLMs, SLMs, multimodal, and agentic models. The role involves building and optimizing training tools and services, designing production-ready backend systems, deploying and monitoring services in cloud environments, and improving engineering practices. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field plus 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience; preferred qualifications include advanced degrees, extensive production and distributed-systems experience, Kubernetes expertise, and AI infrastructure experience. The role requires Microsoft security screening and offers a typical U.S. base pay range of USD 142,800 to USD 274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
