Description
Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and evolution of full-stack customer-facing experiences and platform capabilities. The role owns technical strategy and architecture across frontend, backend, APIs, cloud platforms, and distributed systems; partners with product, design, and data teams; improves engineering velocity, reliability, observability, and operational excellence; and mentors engineers. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of experience, modern web technology expertise, cloud-native distributed systems experience, large-scale consumer product experience, and strong technical leadership and stakeholder management skills. The role requires Microsoft Cloud background checks and offers a typical U.S. base pay range of USD 142,800 to USD 274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
