Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer on Azure Storage to define technical direction for complex, business-critical cloud storage components. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and supporting highly scalable and highly available services; leading architectural decisions and technical leadership across multiple projects; and applying AIOps practices to improve observability, incident detection, root-cause analysis, and mitigation. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least 8 years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $165,600 to $296,400 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
