Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Fabric Data Warehouse Distributed Query Processing (DQP) team to define the long-term technical vision and architecture of the DQP platform. The role leads distributed query processing technologies, including execution, scheduling, resource management, workload isolation, and performance optimization; solves large-scale distributed systems problems; establishes architectural standards; mentors engineers; and leads cross-organizational initiatives. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, plus the ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800–274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
