Description
Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Azure Monitor Pipeline and Agent teams to modernize reliable, cost-efficient managed telemetry pipelines that deliver observability data from Azure and the Edge to multiple destinations. The role owns cloud-scale telemetry platforms, data pipelines, and infrastructure; designs resilient, observable, and secure distributed systems; leads complex engineering initiatives; establishes engineering standards; and collaborates with product, SRE, security, compliance, and platform teams. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, plus Microsoft Cloud background-check eligibility. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, additional years of experience, Rust, observability systems, Open Telemetry, Kubernetes, containers, cloud platforms, or large-scale data processing systems. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800–274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
