Elastic is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Elasticsearch Performance team to lead architectural and code-level performance engineering initiatives. The role owns performance optimization from architecture through production, develops performance models and methodologies, profiles distributed systems, establishes benchmarks and regression detection, automates optimization workflows, and mentors engineers. Candidates need deep Java and JVM knowledge, distributed-systems expertise, profiling and benchmarking experience, and familiarity with AI-assisted optimization. The role offers a base salary of CAD 154,000–243,600, stock participation, RRSP matching, health coverage, and flexible scheduling.
