Itaú Unibanco is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to lead the evolution of distributed-systems architecture and an internal engineering platform supporting critical banking products. The role defines technical standards, high-impact architectural decisions, and technical maturity across multiple squads, while working with Staff Engineers, architects, and technology leaders. Responsibilities include Golang service development, Kafka data-streaming pipelines, AWS cloud architecture, Kubernetes and Crossplane infrastructure automation, AI-assisted engineering, technical governance, mentoring, production troubleshooting, and CI/CD and observability improvements. The position requires 10+ years of software development experience, strong distributed-systems and system-design expertise, and leadership without direct people management.
