Description
Zalando is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership for an entire engineering department, own architecture and end-to-end delivery of mid-to-large-scale projects, and lead agent-augmented delivery through autonomous agents and AI-assisted workflows. The role partners with Product and Engineering Management, contributes significant code and troubleshooting, coaches engineers, improves systems and processes, and shapes departmental and organizational technical strategy. Candidates should have experience with agentic systems, AI-driven software development, regulated financial institutions or payments/fintech, and prior reporting to a Head of Engineering or higher.
