Description
Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer - Azure Storage to define and build geo-resiliency, replication, data protection, and business continuity capabilities for Azure Storage. The role leads architecture and technical strategy across data replication, failover orchestration, disaster recovery, and regional resilience; partners with engineering, product, and platform teams; and champions operational excellence through telemetry, automation, observability, testing, and incident management. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree, extensive distributed systems experience, expertise in geo-distributed architectures and resilience engineering, and experience applying machine learning or AI to service operations. The typical U.S. base pay range is USD 142,800 - $274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
