Microsoft is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for its Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering team to design, architect, develop, debug, and troubleshoot firmware for Azure server, silicon, and rack infrastructure. The role leads end-to-end firmware solutions, collaborates with hardware, software, security, and product teams, develops firmware modules for hardware interfaces, and provides technical leadership to internal developers and external partners. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least six years of technical engineering experience with C, C++, or Python; equivalent experience is accepted. The role requires Microsoft Cloud background screening and offers a base pay range of USD 142,800 to USD 274,800 per year, with higher ranges for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area.
